Fundraising
Tayport Instrumental Band is a registered charity and is largely self funding, with income generated from community engagements and playing members' annual subscriptions helping to cover running costs.

Players' subscriptions are currently set at £50 a year, with a concessionary rate of £30 for unwaged members (payable quarterly). In return for their subscriptions, members have the personal use of a professional quality band instrument, uniform and music, as well as a bandhall in which to rehearse. Many community organisations (and bands) have current subscription rates in the region of £120 a year, so becoming a member of Tayport band is both fun and inexpensive!

We also run a variety of on-going fundraising activities which help boost the finances. The most popular of these is a bingo session held every Tuesday at 7.30pm in Tayport's local "Bell Rock" pub. Another favourite is our "200 Club" which is rather like a monthly sweepstake competition but with a maximum permitted number of members of 200 (a few places still available!) - hence the name.

As well as these, we hold regular coffee mornings, do bag packing sessions at local supermarkets, etc. We've also been fortunate to have obtained major donations from various charities such as the Scottish Arts Council (National Lottery Fund), Fife Council and the Gannochy Trust in Perth to help with major projects such as buying new instruments and uniforms.

Our most significant fundraising project is ongoing - bringing the bandhall into a better state of repair! The basic fabric of the building is fine, but there is evidence of dry/wet rot in the roof timbers and some of the flat roofed areas (belonging to the various extensions added over the years) also require attention. Both toilets have just been renovated with new wc's, basins and instant water heaters and are currently being redecorated, so things are already moving!

If you'd like to help, you can now use your credit or debit card to send us a donation using PayPal - just click on the "Donate" button on the left.
Every donation, no matter how small, helps ensure that there will still be a Tayport Band for the future. Thanks for taking the time to read this page.
